The Two Most Courier Jobs

The courier industry has a lot to offer in terms of employment opportunities for the people. There are many courier jobs that an individual can perform depending on the skill set he/she has. The courier jobs can be anything from in-office to out door work, right from administration to the delivery of parcels. The industry is said to support more than thousands of workers across the globe. These can be entire careers for an individual; people start their careers from this industry and stay here till they reach their retirement age. The contribution of this to human civilization and communication has been enormous.

With so much contribution to various aspects, the people who make it possible are equally important. The following are two of the most important courier jobs and the requirements that an individual should have to carry out these tasks:

Administrator:

The roles and responsibilities of this kind of a profile involves collection of the deliverables from the customers, recording the receipt and then separating the parcels and letters so that they can be given to the delivery people who take the couriers to their destination. After the approval is received from the recipient the administrator has to record the transaction number for the company details and then a slip for confirmation of delivery is sent to the sender. As it can be understood, the administrator plays a pivotal role in the completion of a courier delivery.

Since the administrator is the first point of contact, he/she should have good interpersonal and convincing skills. Also the administrator should be able manage the data accurately to avoid the mixing up of couriers, which could be a big mess for the entire process. Another important that since it is a pivotal task, many courier jobs are dependent on it; hence the person should be responsible enough. Last but not the least, the person should be an organized individual so that everything is recorded and any data is easily available.

Delivery boy:

Once the administrator has the completed the separation of deliverables, they are handed over to the delivery boy. This person has to accurately locate the address mentioned on the parcel and then have it handed over to the right person. Once the parcel is handed over, the name and contact number for the receiver should be taken so that the company can use it as a proof of delivery.

Since this is not a very technical job, the skill set is also not very high. It is the most available of the courier jobs and is highly popular with college students as a vacation job. Though not much skill is required, good work ethics and area knowledge always are an added advantage.

Both of the above mentioned jobs might be simple but play very important roles. The courier industry that is in millions of dollars today is highly dependent on these courier jobs. The profile is not that great but that does not reduce the importance of the tasks.
