The Operational Basics Of Courier Companies
With the increasing competitors and the growing size of the industries, there need to be some standard procedures that can be followed so the business can run at a smooth pace. These are adopted by most of the companies in the business as they are the sort out ways of carrying out the particular tasks. They hold a particularly high degree of importance in labor intense industries; as if one person goes wrong the entire process is disturbed. These are referred to as operation basics and have great importance in fields like drug production and courier companies where work has to go in an orderly manner. These are tried and tested methods which have a good practical application.
In an industry like the one courier companies are into they need to follow it in a very strict and step by step manner. The courier companies first get the deliverables from the customers, at the first point of interaction they make a note of the address where the delivery has to be made. Along with it, they also take down the address of the person who is sending the parcel, so that they can send a confirmation or also approach the person if there is a problem with delivery. Once that is done the courier companies provide the customer with a receipt stating that a parcel has been received and it also bears the cost of the service. The distance of the destination and the size of the courier determine its price.
Now, from the collector it goes to the person who separates the different deliverables as per their destination and then hands it over to the person who is responsible to ensure that each item reaches the desired destination. Then a specific person appointed for a particular area or region is asked to carry out the process via a car, bike or any such vehicle. Couriers meant for distant places are often sent via trains or ships or planes. Then once a particular item is carried out to the receiving end the person receiving the article is supposed to approve the receipt. Then the signature along with a contact number of the person to whom it is delivered is taken as an approval and remains as a proof with the courier companies. Then a note stating that the job has been done is sent to the sender. This completes the delivery process.
The entire process is interdependent, a mistake at one end can disrupt the entire cycle. Hence it becomes very important for everyone involved to do their work with uttermost sincerity and ethically so that the customer is not harmed. All these standardized procedures are to ensure the safety for the customer and the courier companies. With the increasing competition people try to develop and innovate on existing ideas and techniques but the basics of operation will remain the same.
